We believe in the power of play to bring out the best in every kid! Playworks is a nonprofit organization that improves education by providing safe, healthy, inclusive play and physical activity to schools at recess and throughout the entire school day.
Playworks volunteers do several things. Volunteers can choose to help facilitate recess by organizing and playing games with students, they can support our leagues as assistant coaches, managers, or referees, or they can choose to work special events like our Race to Reduce Bullying or one-day extravaganzas. Most of our opportunities occur during weekdays.
If I were to be asked the biggest positive change in our school this year, I would respond by saying Playworks. Students who were formerly causing trouble have turned into leaders. The faculty has been able to concentrate more on the curriculum rather than fixing the issues. The classrooms have become more peaceful and a safer learning environment. - Sally Sansom Principal, East Midvale Elementary
