Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah matches youth with carefully screened volunteers to form a mutually rewarding friendship. Big Brothers Big Sisters offers various mentoring programs to fit the needs of every individual volunteer. Children enrolling in the program are at least six years old, and a 'match' can last one year, two years, or more, depending upon how the relationship is going. This youth mentoring program is available along the Wasatch Front, Park City, and St. George.
School-Based Mentoring- Mentors and children meet on school grounds (either at lunch or after school) for one-hour once a week while school is in session. Mentors are required to volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters for a minimum of one full calendar year. We ask that you commit one year because we'd love to see you develop a partnership with your Little and have the opportunity for your relationship to develop. Activities include homework, board games and four square! As a mentor, you will get to know your Little and help him/her achieve by providing a good role model and supporting aspirations.
I can truly say I made a difference in the life of one little girl. You form a wonderful relationship with your little instead of it being a constant stream of people coming and going. You form a lasting friendship with a child who really appreciates that you're taking the time to be with them and help them. - Caroline Coleman, Salt Lake City, Utah

Last year, I started Big Brothers Big Sisters at Washington Elementary and am still doing it! I hang out with a kid named Kobe who is 8 and lots of fun! He never lets me rest, but I love him so much and every minute I spend with him is just the best. I couldn't ask for a better kid. He is a bit aggressive and has a hard time listening but that's what I'm here for! I started last year because I was on the Guatemala team for Youthlinc, but I am still doing it, because I just can't leave Kobe! He changes my life and I hope I can help him out as best as I can.
