The Girl Scouts of Utah Outreach Program specifically helps low income, disadvantaged, underserved, refugee populations and others to establish a Girl Scout presence at their site. We are currently working with several low income housing complexes, several domestic violence shelters, some homeless shelters, community centers, and Title 1 after-school programs. At almost every site, volunteers are needed to help run these Girl Scout troops. Often, parents are unable to help due to working several jobs or other barriers, so volunteers are the backbone of this program.
Volunteers are assigned as Troop Leaders and teach curriculum about Girl Scouting and leadership skills. Volunteers also facilitate crafts and team building activities.
Volunteering with the Girl Scouts of Utah is both fun and empowering and has reminded me of the importance of friendship and goals. I have loved watching my troop girls grow and learn and have also had a blast with the games, crafts, and activities. Girl Scouts of Utah are looking for volunteer troop leaders to bring Girl Scouts to girls who wouldn't typically have the opportunity or resources to participate. Lincoln Elementary Tuesday from 3:15-4:15 PM Millcreek area 2 female volunteers needed ASAP YWCA Domestic Violence Shelter Mondays 4:15-5:15 PM downtown SLC. 2 female volunteers needed starting early January 2018 South Kearns Elementary Mondays- time TBD starting early January 2018- 1 female volunteer needed
