Each day, we provide activities working through these domains to help our residents maintain a positive quality of life. Some people need more one-on-one attention rather than a group setting and we provide this to them as well. Schedules will need to coincide with daily activity times, but can be pretty flexible depending on schedule. Students who wish to come to Sunshine Terrace must adhere strictly to confidentiality and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), documentation, dependability, and respect for each resident and their individual situations. Students must also possess compassion and a desire to help others. Creativity and an ability to work well with others are very important. Recreational Therapy requires an upbeat, happy personality in order to help motivate residents to feel the same. You will frequently be put in situations that may challenge your personal tendencies. Our residents need to see your optimism and you may have the ability to influence and change lives if you will do so.

I really came to appreciate the older generation. They taught me so much, just by listening to their life history. This site is a great place to meet so many new people and make lasting friendships. The residents will teach you so much by their love for life. - Sophie Rex, Logan, Utah
