Become a peer mentor! We are currently in need of volunteers to be peers at our site at the Leonardo in downtown SLC. Peer Connections supports teens and young adults with social communication disorders in creating opportunities for career exploration, work-related social skills and career skill development in employment settings with their peers. Peer Connections gives teens the opportunity to: - Develop socialization skills with peers and coworkers - Gain hands-on employment experience - Learn to manage work schedules and respond to supervision - Develop coping strategies to manage stress, frustration, and anxiety in the workplace - Build lasting friendships

Easter Seals has an occupational therapy clinic as well as the Peer Connections program. The OT clinic helps children with disabilities. They provide parent education and work with the children in both groups and with individual children. Peer Connections serves students 16-24 who need peers to model appropriate social communication skills in a work setting. We volunteer at places like the Leonardo, Aquarium and Thanksgiving point to provide them opportunities to work on the unwritten rules of work.
Volunteers assist with activities, set up and put down events, clean toys, help with office needs, and supervise children during parent education. Individuals between the ages of 16-24 can participate in the Peer Connection where they mentor an individual with social communication skills in a work setting.
I valued everything and appreciated everything at this main service site. I valued most watching the children learn and grow and get better at the tasks that they are struggling with. It is such a joy to see this. -Haley Brock, Salt Lake City, Utah
