Best Buddies pairs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in one-to-one friendships with middle school, high school and college students. By introducing Best Buddies into public and private schools, participants are crossing the invisible line that too often separates those with disabilities from those without.
Best Buddies members dedicate themselves to social inclusion. They are paired one-to-one with a new friend who they talk to each week and hang out with twice a month. They participate in campaigns such as "Spread the Word to End the Word," "I'm In To Hire," and the annual Friendship Walk to teach their community about the valuable contributions people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can bring to our communities. As a result of their involvement with Best Buddies, people live on their own, become inspirational leaders, and make lifelong friendships.
Best Buddies is an organization that pairs a college student up with a person with special needs. You are required to talk to your best buddy once a week and do an activity twice a month. Its a blast! - Sarah Neilson, Sandy, Utah
