As an ESL class tutor in one of our two ESL locations, your main responsibility will be to lead small classes (one to four adult students) based on the curriculum and lessons planned by the ESL instructor. You will communicate with the ESL instructor about students’ progress and needs. Our students are mostly individuals with refugee status who are trying to adapt to life in America! You will get to know them and help them learn English in a respectful and uplifting classroom setting. We ask for a minimum time commitment of one day per week for 3 months. The thing that I loved most was how involved all of the leaders were, they knew every child by name and made an effort to ask them how their day had been and compliment them on something. This helped to teach me how to give the children positive attention and make sure that they felt special. - Maia Sepulveda, Salt Lake City, Utah
