NOT ACCEPTING VOLUNTEERS
Park City School District Community Education provides English classes for adults learning English as a second language. Adults attend classes every Monday and Wednesday night from 6-9pm. PCSD Community Education also has a Volunteer ESL Tutor Program called the Good Neighbors Program. The Good Neighbors Program is a one-on-one ESL tutoring service where adult English language learners in the community can come and practice their English communication skills and receive individual and personalized instruction from volunteer tutors.
The Good Neighbors Program is currently seeking volunteer ESL tutors for English Grammar, Conversational English, Literacy/Reading/Writing, and Computer Skills. Volunteers are matched with the ESL student who best fits their profile of short and long term goals, background and experience, and availability. Volunteers can tutor up to 3 times per week, Monday through Saturday, in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Sessions usually last 1-1.5 hours. For more information, contact Kimberly Patterson, Program Manager, at 435-615-0213.
Volunteers are also needed to provided fun, interactive, and educational activities for children while parents attend ESL classes. Volunteer opportunities are available every Monday and Wednesday night from 6-9pm. Volunteers may be asked to complete a 30-60 minute orientation before they begin volunteering. This is a particularly great opportunity for volunteers traveling to Peru or Guatemala, as over 95% of our adult ESL students are Spanish speakers. All children in the child care program are Spanish speakers - making it a great time to practice your Spanish!
