The Kostopulos Dream Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides recreation and leisure experiences for people of all ability levels while working on goals to improve quality of life and independence. These programs include activities such as Jazz games, aquarium visits, holiday parties, animal therapy, equestrian programs, bowling club, and other social activities. Each month is themed with a skill to work on such as community orientation, building relationships, communication skills, health and fitness, etc. These activities are planned by recreation therapists and are in the evening and weekends. During the summer months, they also provide week-long camps (residential, day, and travel trip) for individuals with disabilities.
Volunteers for Camp Kostopulos may do any number of things, including spending time with participants, assisting with camp projects, or aiding in physical labor. Volunteers are also welcome and needed during the fall, winter, and spring at special leisure activities.
I loved my service site. There was a lot of face-to-face interaction. The campers always made me laugh. -Sarah Diener, Salt Lake City, Utah
