Backyard Broadcast is a youth-driven movement dedicated to raising awareness and preventing the sexual exploitation of children in the United States. Volunteers will get equipped to be an abolitionist with leading level activist training. You spread the word with events such as hosting a dinner party with friends and screening a video on the issue. Volunteers can participate on or be a CHIEF who runs an official club at a local school. Volunteers in clubs will also participate in training law enforcement on the dangers of sex-trafficing.
The availability of this site will vary depending on the school you attend. If you want to volunteer with Backyard Broadcast check with your school to see if there is a club already established. If not, consider starting one.
Through Backyard Broadcast, I ran a station at my school and helped educate others about sex trafficking as we raised money for police officers to get the training they need to bust traffickers. Backyard Broadcast is currently working with the legislators to tighten laws on cases that involve minors engaged in commercial sex acts so that the victims of sex trafficking will not reoffend. I really enjoyed watching others realize how big of an issue sex trafficking is and helping them get involved with us as we were able to help the victims and future victims. -Allison Baxter, Salt Lake City, Utah

I ran a community club for mainly high school students in and around Orem through Backyard Broadcast. I gave presentations at different locations and conferences, including the state capitol. It helped me learn how to organize people and allowed me to really participate in service. - Heather Shipp
