NOT ACCEPTING VOLUNTEERS UNDER AGE 18 - allowing adult group volunteering for outdoor projects, like yard cleanup, trail management, and possibly other things in the future. Friends of Animals Utah (“FOAUâ€) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has found homes for over 12,000 pets. Our retail adoption center is called “Furburbia†and is located in the Tanger Outlet Mall in Park City, Utah.
Each week, FOAU’s staff visits animal shelters throughout Utah and rescues healthy adoptable dogs and cats, many from these shelters’ euthanasia lists. FOAU then spays/neuters, chips, and vaccinates these animals. These rescue animals are then transported daily from the FOAU Rescue & Rehabilitation Ranch facility to Furburbia. At the Ranch, we provide a temporary, loving home for dogs and cats that no longer have a family of their own.
Volunteers are an integral part of the day-to-day operations at Friends of Animals Utah. We couldn’t exist without the help of our dedicated and hard working volunteers! There are many ways and places to volunteer so contact us with the info above to discuss what you can do!
I started volunteering at Furburbia three years ago. I had always loved animals and was new to Park City and looking to get out of my house and meet some new people (and dogs!). Three years, hundreds of shifts, dozens of friendships, one adopted pit bull, and countless dogs walked and cats petted, and I can honestly say volunteering with FOAU was one of the best decisions of my life. The people, staff and volunteers alike, are absolutely wonderful and want nothing more than to help find forever homes for the dogs and cats that come through every year. If you’re thinking about volunteering, I cannot recommend it enough. Come walk a dog, fold some laundry, socialize a timid cat, clean a kennel, hug a puppy.
