Bad Dog Arts is an artist run non-profit arts organization located in downtown Salt Lake City. Bad Dog Arts provides programs for youth in our community ages 5-18, by creating a safe space to engage in confidence-building and highly creative activities in the studio, in the classroom, and out in the community. At Bad Dog we believe art reflects what is possible and that art can inspire and challenge young people to discover their potential and strive for excellence in all facets of their lives.
We have a variety of volunteer opportunities for high school students, college students, and adults. Volunteer opportunities include art class assistants (both at the studio and offsite); Art Buddies (for our special needs students and students that need one on one help); Event Assistants; and Office help.
This was my first time volunteering at Bad Dog Arts and I instantly felt welcomed into the community. I have had a wonderful experience helping with classes and getting to know the kids. Throughout the two sessions, I've gotten to know individual kids and watched them grow not only as artists, but people as well. I definitely plan to continue my work with Bad Dog and I am looking forward to helping kids express their creativity and engagement in the artistic community. -Liza Badenhausen, Salt Lake City, Utah
We can have volunteers as young as 13 in our K-1 classes.

Bad Dog arts was my main service site this school year. It was amazing! Michael, Victoria, and all the artists were very nice, fun, helpful, and appreciative. I got to know lots of really amazing kids. Bad Dog is a great place to volunteer if you love kids. I've had an amazing experience there, and I ended up doing about 70 hours with bad dog instead of getting the other 40 at miscellaneous sites because I loved it there. I also plan to continue volunteering at bad dog after I get all my hours and my service trip is over. I highly recommend this service site. It is wonderful, and they always appreciate volunteers and their help so much!

I volunteered at Bad Dog Arts for the 2017-2018 school year. At Bad Dog Arts I helped teach art classes to elementary age kids and helped design different art projects for the kids. Michael, Victoria and the other staff members at Bad Dog were always very friendly and welcoming. I would stongly recommend this volunteer site to anyone who enjoys art and spending time with kids! They are also very flexible with the hours, so it is easy to find times to go in and volunteer. I am hoping to comtinue to volunteer at Bad Dog Arts even after I finish the hour requirement for YouthLinc!

Bad Dog Arts was my main service site for the 2017-2018 service year, and I had a lot of fun! I helped teach classes to elementary school kids and helped prepare new lessons each week. It was a good balance between working with the kids and helping out in the studio. The staff members were very friendly and accommodating to my schedule. I highly recommend volunteering with this organization as I will continue my work with them throughout the summer!
