The Kaysville City Youth Court is a juvenile diversionary program where high school age youth act as judges, bailiffs, mentors, and teachers. Volunteers help youth offenders who have plead guilty to recognize their mistakes and teach them to make better decisions in the future.
Volunteers encourage youth offenders to right their wrongs through community service, peer counseling, etc. Volunteers are required to apply and go through an interview process. They also will need to attend a weekly meeting on Wednesday evenings and be excellent examples of a good student and citizen.
I liked that I was able to see kids who had made mistakes fix them and turn their life around so they would have a better future. -Kelsie Kinikini, Kaysville, Utah
