Make an impact with youngsters at Circles Salt Lake! Teen Lead Volunteers help support and lead a group of children in their activities at Circles weekly meetings. This can include planning activities for the group, teaching short lessons, helping with homework and reading, or planning crafts and games. The children at Circles are divided into four age groups: 0-3 year olds, 4-6 year olds, 7-10 year olds, and 11-16 year olds. Teen Lead Volunteers will be matched with a certain group, and should plan to attend at least 3 weekly meetings per month, notifying Circles Staff if they are unable to attend in advance. All new volunteers must complete training with Circles Staff prior to beginning their volunteer service. Circles meetings are Thursday nights, from 5:45-7:45 PM, and include dinner for all volunteers and participants.

Our mission is to inspire and equip families and communities to thrive and resolve poverty. We approach this by combining best practices in several disciplines including community organizing, case management, grassroots leadership, S.M.A.R.T. goal setting, financial literacy, mentoring, peer-to-peer counseling and learning, and child/ youth development. With the assistance of our dedicated volunteers and community members, we can provide resources to our families which include job opportunities, transportation, healthcare, and a variety of other services. When our communities and families come together with support and resources, poverty can be resolved for good. UPDATE 8/28/2020 - WE CAN USE VOLUNTEERS BOTH IN PERSON AND VIRTUAL.
Our youth volunteers can assist families in poverty by attending Circles weekly meetings on Thursday nights from 5:45-7:45 PM. Prior to their first meeting, all new volunteers must attend training with Circles Staff. Volunteers at weekly meetings serve as positive role models and supports to other volunteers for the age group they are matched with. You may also help structure group time by planning activities, tutoring and helping with homework, and teaching crafts and games. This is a great opportunity to connect and build relationships with communities across all backgrounds!
