Make an impact with youngsters at Circles Salt Lake! Teen Lead Volunteers help support and lead a group of children in their activities at Circles weekly meetings. This can include planning activities for the group, teaching short lessons, helping with homework and reading, or planning crafts and games. The children at Circles are divided into four age groups: 0-3 year olds, 4-6 year olds, 7-10 year olds, and 11-16 year olds. Teen Lead Volunteers will be matched with a certain group, and should plan to attend at least 3 weekly meetings per month, notifying Circles Staff if they are unable to attend in advance. All new volunteers must complete training with Circles Staff prior to beginning their volunteer service. Circles meetings are Thursday nights, from 5:45-7:45 PM, and include dinner for all volunteers and participants.

Teen volunteers can assist families in poverty by attending Circles weekly meetings on Thursday nights from 5:45-7:45 PM. Prior to their first meeting, all new volunteers must attend training with Circles Staff. Volunteers at weekly meetings serve as positive role models and supports to other volunteers for the age group they are matched with. You may also help structure group time by planning activities, tutoring and helping with homework, and teaching crafts and games. This is a great opportunity to connect and build relationships with communities across all backgrounds!

Teen Mentors play a unique role in the Circles program by showing up for a child each week. Teen Mentors must attend at least 3 Circles meetings per month. At each meeting, Teen Mentors will spend the night working closely with their Matched Buddy, a child who comes from a family in poverty. Activities might include helping practice communication skills, tutoring, helping a child through difficult situations, and serving as a role model and friend to the child you have been matched with. This is a great opportunity to connect with an individual child and have a positive impact on them, and to support them as their family works toward better stability.
