The Hser Ner Moo Community and Welcome Center, an Out of School Time Program of Promise South Salt Lake, is open to youth and their families that live, work or worship in South Salt Lake. Through community partnerships they are able to meet the needs of youth and their families by providing or referring them to resources for success.
You will work directly with the refugee students on homework tutoring, mentoring a student, or assisting in the Early Learning program. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Thursday from 4-7pm elementary-aged children and teens.

Hser Ner Moo K-6 Program

The Hser Ner Moo K-6 program runs Monday through Thursday from 4-6:30 pm. Volunteers are needed for homework help and assisting in activities. The minimum age requirement is 16 years old, and volunteers 18 years and over must complete a background check which costs $22. Hser Ner Moo is a great place to volunteer! Not only are the staff really welcoming, but all the children are too! Everyone has a great time after school, and we impact lives at the same time. You get to see the inside workings of after school programs and help change lives at Hser Ner Moo. A great place - also super easily easy to get to via public transit. I highly recommend Hser Ner Moo.

I absolutely LOVE volunteering at the Hser Ner Moo center! It is the perfect place to do your main service site hours. I always look forward to volunteering here; the kids are so fun! At the Hser Ner Moo center you can actually see the pay off for your volunteer time. The kids learn so much from you and it is observable! You learn so much about yourself and the refugee community! I would recommend the Hser Ner Moo center to everyone who wishes to volunteer!

I love serving here! I have learned so much about the community here and enjoy helping the kids with homework and participating in fun activities with them. I hope to continue volunteering here even after my trip to Peru.
